3D Printers

Quick! Someone lend me $40,000 so I can run out and get one of these totally awesome 3d printers! Actually if I'm taking your money I'd rather get $50,000 and buy the slightly fancier Spectrum Z510 both of which are from a company called Z Corp.

These things let you put a 3d CAD file into their program and it automatically prints it out in 3d plastic. They're for engineers to make quick little prototypes or models of different parts or products but I can't help but think of all the really crazy toys and monsters I could make with one of these things...

For people who don't have $40,000+ dollars I also found a site that gives you the blueprints to build your own.

Here's another site with plans to build one. That one actually lets you build most of the parts to build ANOTHER one.

(You can't tell from the picture but if you blow all the powder off that motor it is actually made in full colour!)

Tauren Marine

Every year you can count on Blizzard to come up with fun April Fools stuff. This year they've got a page announcing a new Tauren Marine for Starcraft 2. (For anyone who has no idea what I'm talking about... Taurens are a race of cow people from World of Warcraft). Anyone who knows exactly what I'm talking about is probably already laughing about the Murloc on his head...

This really gets the brain going though doesn't it? How great would it be if there was a real-time stategy game based on World of Warcraft? I mean you could have orc and humans and elves and undead all battling out making buildings and fighting over resources...how awesome would that be!

Yeah, who am I kidding, that would never work...

Animation - Make New Friends

I meant to post this yesterday but YouTube was going through maintenance late last night and I couldn't upload it until now. Yesterday I was messing around with an animation program and I thought I'd share one of the little tests I made. Click here to see a very short animation that I did called Make New Friends (technically it's Make New Friends 2 because I made something with snowmen similar to this about 2 years ago). There isn't any sound added...and it's just under 7 seconds, so don't blink and miss the whole thing! This makes me wish I had the space to do some stop-motion with plasticine again...

I haven't been this obsessed with a new cartoon since Invader Zim.
